Guildmore Nears Completion of £18.5 Million Fire Safety Remediation Project in Barking

Guildmore is pleased to announce the near completion of our Facades & Cladding unit’s comprehensive fire safety remediation project at Ropeworks in Barking, valued at £18.5 million. This project underscores our dedication to excellence and adherence to fire and structural safety in the construction industry.

In collaboration with Barking Central Management and the client’s employers’ agents Hart Dixon, we undertook an extensive project to enhance fire safety measures and revitalise this significant complex. The project involved the removal and replacement of various elements, including the removal of non-compliant HPL Trespa Meteon and EWI Render systems and balcony decking.

We have installed compliant systems, including the Soltherm Ultimate HD Silicone Mineral EWI System and PPC Aluminium Flat Panel Cladding Systems, both achieving a reaction to fire classification of A2-s1,d0. These systems linear build-up incorporate crucial fire safety features such as mineral wool insulation, breather membranes, cavity barriers, EPDM seals for windows, sheathing boards, and vapour control layers (VCL), all in compliance with the latest UK Building Regulations. Additionally, PPC aluminium decking and supporting frameworks were installed, along with PPC aluminium flat panel cladding wrapping each balcony to maintain the original design appearance.

As we approach the completion of this project, we acknowledge its significance not only as a major milestone for Guildmore but also as an important development for the community it serves. The complex has achieved enhanced fire safety and functionality. We remain committed to delivering excellence in construction projects across the region.
