Regeneration – Poplar Baths Leisure Centre

The present Poplar Baths building opened in 1934, and is one of the finest early 20th century municipal swimming pools in the country. It remained a much loved local landmark for generations, but fell into disrepair, after its closure in 1986.

In 2011, the council revealed its plans for the regeneration of the Grade II listed Poplar Baths and to restore it as a public leisure centre for the surrounding community. Guildmore was selected to restore this Grade II listed building to its former glory.

  • Stylish, modern sports facility
  • New 25-metre swimming pool

21st century facilities for the community

English Heritage officials commented that it is one of the best developments they’ve seen. Today Poplar Baths, along with Haileybury & Dame Colet has developed into one of London’s newest and most successful community regeneration projects.

We completed the development in 2016.
