Guildmore sponsors the Tower Hamlets Mayor’s Cup

London Tower Hamlets Mayo's Cup

Sponsorship of the borough’s flagship football tournament builds on Guildmore’s wider commitment to support the community and address local needs, following its appointment to lead the regeneration of St George’s Leisure Centre.

The 2026 Tower Hamlets Mayor’s Cup finals took place at Mile End Stadium on Sunday 27 September, with Guildmore in attendance in support of the tournament. Delivered by Tower Hamlets Council in partnership with the borough’s football community, the Mayor’s Cup ran from 19–27 September, with youth, adult, junior and school competitions taking place before the finals at Mile End Stadium.

Bringing communities together through sport

The tournament is designed to encourage participation, promote healthy lifestyles and bring people from across Tower Hamlets together through football.

Neel Bidessie, Guildmore Group’s Director of People, Culture and ESG, attended the finals, where he was pleased to help meet the teams and hand out medals to the finalists.

Neel said: “This was an uplifting event that enabled Guildmore to connect with the local community and demonstrate its commitment to deliver added value by making a contribution that targets investment  that unlocks opportunity for all and support the needs of young people to address local health challenges such as obesity.

“We are delighted to be leading the regeneration of a new leisure centre in the borough, which we hope will inspire communities to take part in health and wellbeing activity to improve lives.”

Lutfur Rahman, Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets, said:“The Mayor’s Football Cup is a fantastic celebration of grassroots football, bringing communities together through the power of sport. My thanks go to all the players, officials, partners, sponsors, and supporters whose passion and commitment made this year’s competition another great success.”

Our commitment to healthy lifestyles in Tower Hamlets

Our support for the Mayor’s Cup comes ahead of the start of our work at St George’s Leisure Centre in Shadwell.

Guildmore has been appointed by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to deliver the regeneration of the site, replacing the existing leisure centre with a new four-storey facility, alongside new social homes and improvements to St George’s Gardens and the surrounding public realm.

Work is due to commence later this year, and our involvement in the local community will form a key part of the project.

Creating an impact beyond the build

Supporting the Mayor’s Cup is an early part of our wider commitment to the borough. As work at St George’s takes shape, we will continue working with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, local organisations and residents to support opportunities and create a positive impact beyond the development itself.
