Abri Wave 2.1

Retrofit and decarbonisation programme for dispersed properties in Southampton.
The Project

Guildmore delivered a retrofit and decarbonisation programme for Abri Group across the Southampton region, funded by Wave 2.1 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund and through the Pretium Greener Futures Partnership Framework.

The programme covered solar PV installation, cavity wall, loft and pitched roof insulation, and ventilation upgrades across a dispersed portfolio of properties, with every home achieving measurable energy efficiency improvements. Coordinating works across multiple occupied, scattered sites presented a significant logistical challenge, with each property required to be turned around in under ten days to meet the programme’s ambitious decarbonisation targets.

Early engagement with residents was central to delivery. Information packs, phone calls and face-to-face open days ensured residents understood the benefits of the works before they began, resulting in 98% satisfaction. On the supply side, early engagement with suppliers and bulk purchasing of materials ensured availability across all sites and mitigated the risk of delays, keeping the programme on time throughout.

Following successful delivery, Guildmore has extended the partnership with Abri through to 2028, covering over 1,000 homes across the South of England. The partnership has since been recognised with Retrofit Partnership of the Year at the 2026 Retrofit Academy Awards, jointly won by Abri and Guildmore.
